We were very surprised to read the poor reviews about the staff. We found them very pleasant and helpful. It's true that not all of them speak English, but this does not mean they are rude if they do not understand perfectly. The problem more likely lies with the attitude of the foreigners staying there, on 2 occasions we saw... More

I was here at april 2012 because one of my friends recommended the place for me. I was traveling alone and there would be a cool atmosphere and lots of backpackers. In fact that is true, there are a lot of travelers and the decoration is nice. It is a little far from kao san road but the ferry is... More

We came to stay in Shanti Phuket by mistake. We had, had a hideous two day bus journey to Phuket and got to our pre booked accomodation on New Years Eve and it was nothing short of dreadful?! Looked in the Rough Guide in desperation and found Shanti. We had planned to stay for just two nights and ended up... More

How do they still have a business??? You are greeted at reception with little more than a GRUNT (if you are lucky) once you have booked and are obliged to stay the night. You are then considered little more than an annoyance. And if you are able to pull one the multitude of staff away from their laptops / I-pad... More

The Shanti lodge is a very chill relaxed hidden oasis that offers a break from the crazy kata patong beach scene. When we arrived there was a mixup on our reservation but Kim the owner was great, she always makes it work which helped us recover from our long airplane journey. The main bonus/challenge is the location, it's off the... More

650 bahts/night for a double room with bathroom (cold water) and fan. Located in Thewet, close to Chaoyang river (5 mins walk from stop no.15 for Express boat). The location is great, there is a bunch of guesthouse and lots of food in the street. You can also eat there, the food was pretty good! Almost 15 mins. walk from... More

Can't find Shanti Phuket on Tripadvisor so we're leaving a review here. We've stayed at Shanti twice, 2007 and 2011, whilst travelling with our young daughters. We love the place, it's good value, beautifully set up and the restaurant serves food that both our (fussy) kids will eat. The Owner, Kim is just wonderful - she can't do enough to... More

We landed in BKK at night and had reserved a room at Shanti ahead of time at no cost. The restaurant is fantastic, the staff is nice even though they dont speak much english and the rooms were clean. Dont expect anything fancy though. The bathroom and shower were outside and the beds were rock hard like the rest of... More

I stayed in one of the nicer rooms on the third floor. There's a constant buzz of motorcycles... but I also did not use AC. Chances are if I did, it would have been fine-- but I hate AC. Earplugs definitely helped. Food is amazing... not cheap, but worth it.

This was our second stay at Shanti Lodge, and we were very happy to see that not too much has changed. There are a couple of things we really appreciate about Shanti Lodge - first, its a little bit away from the really touristy part of Bangkok (although only a short walk away), so the atmosphere is a bit more...
