Shanti Lodge is a low priced guest house located quite unpractically in the western outskirts of Bangkok close to the river, in a rather poor and dirty neighbourhood without much to see or to do, on a busy and noisy street. Also, the walls within the building are paperthin, so be prepared for bad nights. Our "double ensuite" room was... More

My reservation was for 3 nights but I cancelled after one. I walked away from there after one night with 30+ bug bites on my feet and ankles. I have no idea if they are bedbugs or fleas, I'm still trying to figure it out and I'm washing everything I own. I got in from traveling near midnight and was... More

We stayed here four nights in a double bedroom. I can recommend these over the traditional ones wich have very thin walls. De room we had was nice and spacious. Great value for money but take earplugs with you. Its bangkok, this city is alive 24/7. Aircon is little noisy but gives you a non sweaty night :-) The food... More

You would have to be crazy to write a bad review of this place & I mean out of your mind!!! I've stayed all over, whether it be in Thailand or even the States and have never met a more friendly and caring staff that are also super entertaining & hilarious. I'm a chef so let ME judge the food... More

A nice location, a nice selection of rooms all with a leafy/jungle relaxed feel but the staff let this nice place down. The girls in the restaurant are too busy flirting with all the young travelling boys or sitting with their friends chatting and taking photos of each other to even notice everyone in the restaurant waiting to order a... Pro: location Contra: - pretending to be fresh and organic, but orangejuice from the bottle... - noisy rooms - the price of dood and accomodation much too high! Better places in the neighbourhood, for less money

i simply cannot recommend this place. Even if I didn't get bed bugs here (which I definitely did, see the attached photos) I'd give this place a bad review. I stayed for three nights, leaving after the bed bug incident But given this was recommended by Lonely Planet (which I only read for their recommendations on accommodations), I wasn't expecting... The Shanti is a haven from busy Bangkok. The rooms are pretty simple, though we appreciated the family rooms but the dining area is great. The food is also top notch. Loved the tofu satay. The owner is super helpful.

Stayed here during a brief Bangkok stopover on the way from Myanmar to Cambodia. The idea was to stay as far away from Khaosan Rd as possible while still being more or less close to the center. The location is in fact very nice, around the corner from a lively market with lots of great street food available nearby. However,... More

We stayed for 6 nights at Shanti Bangkok and loved it. The location forced us to travel around Bangkok as we were doing Dental work at the Southern end of the new City and had to go by River Ferry, Taxi to get to our destination. This actually helped us to see more of the wider city. There was no... More
