Based on some of the recent reviews, we were concerned when our tour operator told us our original hotel choice was booked and that they had secured us a room at the Marshyangdi. We expressed our concerns at check-in and checked out the room first - the room was very pleasant, very clean, and very comfortable. The hotel is located...

We (a group of 19) had booked 13 rooms at this hotel in May '11 for our trip in October '11. The booking was made through an agent who had confirmed that all rooms were alloted in the main wing of the hotel.
However, on arrival in Nepal, we were informed that 5 of the rooms were in the "ANNEXE"...

This is a little lengthy, but the gist of it says - Stay away from Hotel Marshyangdi to avoid travel grievances!!!
Hotel Marshyangdi was for us, a 25 minute drive away from the airport and situated at the mouth of Thamel, a busy tourist street good for local crafts and trekking gear. It was planned that our group of 5...

This hotel was the meeting point for our group for a tour of Nepal and India. It was quite nice and the staff were very good. We felt at quite at home from the start and it was a good spot to come back to after the chaos of Durbar Square and the roads leading there. A good alternative to...

Good location at the edge of Thamel that gives access to the life and restaurants of Thamel without the conjestion and noise of central Thamel. Good service, clean and secure rooms. Staff are friendly and most helpful. I have been staying there twice a year for the last dozen years.

The location is in the heart of the Thamel district in Kathmandu. It's pretty on the outside. Nice garden courtyard restaurant. Good lobby to meet people... but it's around $100 to $45 for a room. The first room I started in had no outside window... just a window to the hallway... by the stairs so you could hear all of...

We stayed here as part of a private trekking group for 3 nights, both before and after trek. The first 2 nights our room was clean and comfortable, but old. On our return trip we stayed in a room on one of the remodeled floors. The furnishings were much nicer. This is an old hotel and if you're looking for...
