Service is the highlight of this hotel. Staff are always on their toes to serve you better. The food is good and sumptuous. Rooms are kept clean. Toiletries are up to the mark. Rooms are very big and spacious. Beds are neat.

Shangri-La, just off busy Thamel is in a quiet nook just by the main road. It's an old property but retains a certain old-worldly charm. The rooms are small yet comfortable and the staff very helpful. We had a problem with the geyser and were promptly alloted another room. The dining area abuts the large garden and its wonderful to sit... More

We stayed at the Shangri la for three nights overall during our recent trip tp Nepal as part of a 40 strong group on a pilgrimage to Mukthinath. Rooms are pretty small and cozy. The linen and bedding is of good quality. The staff very pleasing and helpful. They have a piano playing in the lobby which gives one a... More

My Mother, My Cousin & Me, visited Kathmandu on a short holiday & stayed at this lovely "Garden-Hotel"... in 01Twin & 01Dbl Room on the 2nd-Floor.... we had wonderful views of the Gardens from our rooms. A First-Class Hotel, with a very well kept, large Garden (The Shambala), and with a CASINO attached! What more could one ask for? Good... More

This hotel was part of a Peregrine package tour from Australia involving trekking to Mt Everest base camp, etc. Kathmandu is the point of disembarkation and embarkation (after your trek) from overseas, so most Himalayan trekkers and climbers will stay in Kathmandu at some time. As indicated, the hotel was not one of our choosing, and we stayed there in... More

It is our first night in this hotel and we like it very much. We especially likes the garden, it is lovely! There are people playing the piano aside the lobby, which make us feel warm. We had lunch along with the exquisite garden and the experience is amazing! The food taste good. All of the staff here are very... More

Officially a five star hotel, this is probably closer to a three to four star hotel by Western standards, but hey, this is Nepal and let's be reasonable. The hotel is in the Embassy area so appeals to visiting dignitaries as well as tourists (and conferences). It's quiet, deceptively so given the hustle and bustle just outside, with a well... More

The Hotel is good with having a big space. The rooms are clean and well maintained but somewhere the exterior looks old and need maintainance. The view is good from some of the rooms as The room I was given was having not any view. But when i'd asked the Manager at reception he promised to give me the room... More

This place is third class, doesnt even deserve 2 stars. First of all, the name is a big lie- it is some local Shangri-la. The staff is arrogant and dim-witted, the food is perhaps the worst i have ever had in my life in any place (my engineering college hostel included). The beds are bug infested- some one in our...
