What an extraordinary place and family! We stayed at Impandala Farm House, an idyllic setting, with its wide veranda overlooking the lake. Sitting there, watching the sun set over the water, was simply fantastic, as was the late afternoon walk round the edge of the lake, seeing wildebeest, Letchwe, red buck and Kudu, with egrets and turusco. The rooms are... More

Anyone who has driven to Sun City will know what it is to gasp when something magnificent simply arises from the bush in front of your eyes. Shiwa Ngandu is a similar experience! Miles away from anywhere, an old Colonial Manor House suddenly looms into sight........You screw up your eyes and wonder if it is a mirage. We arrived after... More

I stayed a couple of days at Impandala, farmhouese of the main Shiwa Mansion, in aug 2011. Shiwa Ngandu is a unique and astonishing settlement in Zambia. The main mansion is the evidence of human determination, tenacity and cleverness still evident in how Sir Gore Brown conceived and built it and how his heirs are managing and enhancing it. Impandala... More

After a month-long road trip through Tanzania and Malawi, another couple, my husband, baby and I ended our vacation with a relaxing afternoon and evening at the Kapishya Hot Springs Lodge. We were planning on camping, but since it was the rainy season, the camping area was somewhat flooded. We could have camped anyway on a dry area, but we... More

My wife and I were on on the road from Johannesburg to Serengeti and back in our Land Cruiser 4x4 from February to July 2010. Except for 3 nights we slept in our roof top tent in many camping sites in South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Malawi & Tanzania. One of the nights we spent in a bed was in a... More

I've wanted to visit Shiwa for a very long time and on this trip I finally got round to it. I couldn't afford to stay at the main house so we stayed at Kapishya Hot Springs which is in the grounds and for the purposes of this review I'll call it as the same place. It's run by one brother,... More

We stayed in the lodge first night but then stayed at the camp site which was one twentieth of the price and we had the hwole place to ourselves. Riverside location, open fires and a gorgeous setting. friendly locals with whom we played soccer, took hikes and generally enjoyed ourselves. There is a natural ot springs here which is the... More
