I Thought that Red Chili was beautiful, located near the center of the Busy City Kampala of Kampala, it is secluded, but filled with people who share a common interest to Travel. Bar Staff were great, Internet was slow (BUT u expect that in Africa) and the rooms were standard. check it out if u have a chance.

we stayed one night there and really like it. generally it is a standard hostel with private room, dorm, restaurent (not so many option in food), free wifi, bar, and nice campsite. its clean and safe and also located in good part of the city but a little bit far from city centre, but you can find anything you need... We stayed here after reading a review in Lonely Planet and it was the recommended start point of our overland trip. We stayed for 2 nights before departing on the overland. We arranged the pickup from Entebbe Airport which all went to plan. Our room was basic but clean, not bad for the money. Shower was hot. Only drawback with... More

Dear Cosmic Pigeon Thanks so much for your review on Red Chilli - we're so glad you enjoyed your stay! Sorry about the swimming pool - I think you must have had a very old copy of the Lonely Planet as that deal sadly finished quite some years back when all the land owners changed. We do have a small... More

We stayed in Kampala Backpackers and Red Chilli whilst in Uganda. We found Red Chilli to be better in many ways. The shared facilities and restaurants were better. As was the vibe and the range of trips that could be organised. Would recommend the cottages for groups as there is a good kitchen that you can use to save $.... More

We not only had a wonderful experience at red chili in Kampala, we had a wonderful stay at red chili in Murchison falls! Amazing! Our driver Kule became a lifetime friend! So happy we had the chance to meet him and the staff at red chili!

The rooms are basic, the mattresses are soggy and in the middle of the bed they are a bit sunk in. We paid $20 a night for a twin room there so we werent expecting much but beds should be a bit more comfy. The bathrooms are common and relatively clean. Area is in a nice setting however it is... Dear Fe05 Thanks very much for reviewing Red Chilli. We are sorry you were disappointed by our beds - we are in the process of re-vamping the rooms and changing mosquito nets and mattresses, so I'd hope if you gave us another chance, you'd be more comfortable next time. For the price, I am afraid we are unable to provide... More

I was very impressed with the Murchison Falls-Big 5 package through Red Chilli Hostel. The Kampala hostel was good (although I did end up with some serious bites along one side of my body-bed bugs?) However, I was the only person I knew, so maybe it is limited so far. If you book with a credit card ensure to pick... More

Dear Leah G Thanks so much for taking the time to review the Red Chilli - we're so glad you enjoyed your stay and the safari. We regularly fumigate rooms and haven't heard of any problems with bed bugs for a very long time - but if you could let us know which room you stayed in, we will certainly... More

I stayed here with my family of 3 and we all had a terrific experience. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful! They helped organize a rafting trip for my daughter and I while my husband was off tracking gorillas. They made us feel at home the days we spent 'chillin' out' - playing ping pong, playing cards, organizing further... More

Dear Galmc Thanks so much for your review of Red Chilli. We are so happy that you enjoyed the place and your experience of Uganda! Although more expensive, we do have some self-catering 2 bedroom cottages which are very suitable for families - they are also far away from the bar so nice and peaceful! Please come again! Best regards... More

I stayed at Red Chilli in Kampala a couple of times during my 9 weeks in Uganda (jan-march 2012), both in the dorm, in a twin room, and went with them to MFNP. I was very happy with my overall experience, it's nice staying a bit outside the city center and getting there is easy and costs only about 1500.... More

Dear Elsie198 Many thanks for your Red Chilli review. First let me say how sorry I was to hear of your ordeal with the immigration official in Masindi.... this is the first time something like this has happened that I know of, and I sincerely hope it's the last time. We took up the incident with several foreign embassies/high commissions... More

I have stayed at Red Chilli a couple of times. The first time about 18mths ago was brilliant, the staff were great & helpful & the food was fairly priced and tasty as was the beer. How ever when I returned in Sep.2011 was a shock to the the system. The manager was so rude to the staff and patrons... More
