I have just returned from Khartoum, where I stayed for 2 weeks at the Acropole. It was really what I had read previously: a 3 star hotel with a 5 star service! The rooms are simple, but you have all you need (A/C and fan, refrigerator, fast wireless access everywhere, satellite TV, iron, hairdryer); the staff is extremely friendly and... More

I'd like to make it clear that I didn't stay at the Acropole, we simply went on their City Tour on a Friday evening. My Dad is currently working in Sudan and we visited him for a week in March (staying with him in his apartment) however we came across the Acropole's city tour online before we flew out, and... More

I dont give 5 points only because smoking is still allowed in the small loby and restaurant and there is no option left for the non smokers. Otherwise this old fasion , family run hotel is a phenomenon. The 3 Greek, Pagoulatos brothers, and especially George, should be invided by Universities and other training institutions around the world, to teach... More

On the basis of Trip Adviser reviews, my brother and me chose the Acropole to stay in for a tourist visit to Khartoum, revisiting places we had known as children and later. Everything the earlier reviewers say is true - George, the owner, and his family and staff are exceptionally welcoming and helpful and there is a real feel of... More

I stayed at the Acropole for a week recently and can truthfully recommend it. It is a classic, high ceiling, large fan, good hassle free service. Airport pickup, necessary registrations and permits, e.g. photo permit, needed in the Sudan. George, the Director, and his brothers can organize anything, drivers, tours, restaurants, all this in an unobtrusive manner. There was some... More

This has to be THE place to stay in Khartoum. It's run by a Greek Sudan-based family who will solve problems (visas, immigration, permits, travel, security) as well as ensure you're relaxed and well-fed. Good Greek/international food with some local dishes - the all-in tariff is the best 'value for money'. Comfortable and well-organised. internet facilities. Free city tour every... More

Everytime I went to Khartoum (3 times), I always stay at Acropole. It's a simple hotel but very clean. What I like the most is the hospitality of the owner and its staff. They've owned this place from a generation to another. The staff have been working there for decades. If I need anything, such as simple as flip-flop or... More

I spent one week there in 1993. I came for a short trip from Cairo where I worked more than 5 years. I liked the hotel very much. There was friendly, family atmosphere. I think there were no air conditioned rooms that time but just a BIG fan on the ceiling with several speeds. As I was there in February... More

I stayed here for several days based on the recommendation of local people and a colleague who had stayed here several times. I was not disappointed. I have traveled widely in Africa and the Middle East and have stayed in a number of hotels that have been high on cost and low on quality. The Acropole is very reasonably priced... More

My wife and I recently took the public ferry from Aswan and arranged for a driver to take us from Wadi Halfa to Khartoum. The "tour company" was supposed to take care of all the paperwork details, including the tourist permit. When we reached the Acropole at the end of our adventure, the first thing George (the owner) did was... More
