I would advise travellers to avoid this place like the plague. In order to reach my room I had to walk through an unlit building site, which felt extremely insecure. The rooms were old, musty, and were full of mosquitos. There was no wifi in the rooms, which makes it an extremely poor choice for the business traveller. I live... More

This is the first bad review I've ever written on TripAdvisor, but was "inspired" to do so when I learned that my sister was just recommended to stay here on business when she travels to Dakar next week. I probably owed this negative review to my traveling compadres months ago! Without hesitation, I implore you to look elsewhere for your... More

While this is supposedly a luxury hotel, there are surprisingly few comforts including limited "warm" water. While the beach front is beautiful as are the grounds surrounding the hotel, the rooms are awful. Moldy and mildewy old bed linens that will cause people suffering from allergies to really suffer! Limited "warm" water, unreliable internet connectivity, and helpless staff. Sorry to... More

I stayed there around 2010...so maybe times have changed.. but when i was there, I had bed bugs in my room, the showers were moldy and dirty and did not always have hot water. the rooms were dark and cold and depressing with little to no sunlight during the day (rooms are on a curve, like the inside of a... The hotel des Almadies is located nearby the Pointe des Almadies, a neighbourhood of Dakar. This hotel was the former Club Med in Dakar. A huge ensemble by the sea with a nice swimming pool and a nice landscape when you are looking towards the sea side. It has a snack-bar outside and some games for the kids. My main... More

If you were to look at the website for the Hotel des Almadies, you might think this is a lovely seaside resort. And indeed, perhaps one day it could be. They appear to be in the midst of a major renovation. In the meantime, however, it is a hotel to be avoided. The rooms are dark (not the lovely, sunlit... More

I stayed in the Hotel Des Almadies for a week, during a conference in Dakar. The low standards of cleanliness made this a very unconfortable and challenging hotel to stay in. Other people from the conference had no AC or hot water in their rooms... I had to change my room twice during my stay. The lounge and common areas... More

My experience at this hotel left me definite not to return there to stay. I might visit just to experience the coastline but surely not to spend the night. The mosquitoes in the hotel are unionized, I am sure. They must be programmed to go for guests. Our flight arrived Dakar at 2am and we got to the hotel at... More

My company organized a meeting at this hotel with around 40 staff staying there. Within one day we were calling it "hotel des maladies" (hotel of sickness). It was horrible, horrible, horrible. And if it were $50/night one might put up with it, but it was three times that. The rooms are dark and smell. The first room they gave... More
