Since I had a house in Dakar I didn't use La Madrague as a hotel but as a restaurant with a pool on the beach and for that it was perfect. The beach can be very dirty in Dakar so you can use the pool instead. The fish was delicious and the wait less than in typical Dakar. The colors... More

This hotel is very pretty. It is quiet and clean. Our room had a huge balcony with a lovely view of the ocean and beach. Due to its location, the opposite side also overlooked the ocean. The water is hot, the towels and linens clean. The room was serviced when we went out, and none of our things were disturbed.... More

I have placed several people into La Madrague, explaining carefully that the location is on the beach close to several nice little restaurants and the canoe to Ngor Island, please don't stay here if you are expecting 4 or 5 star, Dakar is an expensive place to visit, most hotels of a 3 star standard are equivalent to a 2star... I went through all the reviews about the Madrague, curious to know what other people thought about it. I do agree with other visitors by saying that the environment is very French and rather arrogant; I also tend to believe that the local employees are subdued (but where are they not??). Also true that people at the reception were unfriendly.... More

Did not get the sense that most of the staff or management was particularly eager to help you (some very friendly exceptions of course), decent restaurant, average breakfast, so-so pool. Not super effectively airconditioned. I think I'd either look for a better bargain or pay the little bit more to upgrade to a nicer experience. Only possibly worthwhile if you... More

I stayed here with a large group for a week. I stayed an extra night and when I tried to pay my bill realized $40 US dollars had been taken from my passport wallet. At first they were accommodating and said to take it off my bill. Then the front desk manager refused. Calling the main manager, she accused me... More

Upon arriving, I thought this was going to be a great experience with its beachside location. However, the rooms were very disappointing. There was no internet access during the entire stay. The TV was poor and did not have CNN or Al Jezeera. The bed mattresses were of very poor quality. The AC was very old and noisy. Overall the... More

The hotel has a great location is clean and has a decent _ordering_on_good kicthen. The best part is the pool on the beach. The lights in the room are a lil gloomy though by my standards.

We had a very bad start with no hot water for the first two nights and reception staff who appeared totally indifferent and disinclined to help. Our apartment , Room 19, was just off reception so we were woken at 3am by noisy late-arriving guests and again at 5.30 by even noisier staff checking in. Things were transformed, however, when...
