This hotel seems to be well known, as our taxi from the airport took us straight there, no problem. The reception is on the first floor, no lift, and watch your step as the marble stairs are quite worn down. The staff are incredibly friendly and communication was fine, although only one person speaks any English (not really expected, anyway!)....

The hotel is in a very central location that within walking distance for main 5 minutes walk to Train Station, 3 minues walk to Metra Terminal, 7 minutes walk to Medina.
The hotel is quiet and overall clean (despite a bit shabby) and staffs are friendly and helpful. For this price range, it is totally acceptable.

We booked the hotel via email before our trip and were fortunate enough to speak a little French, which made the process far easier.
On arrival, which was quite late at night, the youngest of the staff came out and helped us with our bags and even negotiated down our taxi fare from the airport. We were shown to our...

The reservation process for the hotel was good, with staff fairly fluent in English. The rooms were cheap but still a little overpriced for what you get. The rooms were rundown but clean, except for the floors. The best feature of the room was a good bathtub with a shower wand, but the window screen had a hole in it,...

I reserved a room with bathroom for one person via the website, and doubled-checked with the reservation twice beforehand to make sure it was fine. They assured me - by e-mail - it was. Naturally, when it came to checking in, it wasn't even there.
Nevermind, it was low season and I easily got a twin-room with a sink (22...

If you want to spend one or two nights in the capital of Tunisia this is a good place. It is 500 meters from the main Railway Station of Tunis. Also the Medina is not far away from the hotel (1000 meters).
The hotel looks like a student hostel but with 2 bad. You can find 3 pictures about it....

I stayed at the Salammbo on two occasions and it's not too bad for what you pay. It's in a great location, 10 minutes walk to the Medina, and the front desk staff are friendly. We got a room on the forth floor (good for the legs). It was a corner room, very large, bright and clean. The shower/bathroom was...

The Hotel Salammbo is not a gem of a hotel. But it's not dirty, it's not full of creepy crawlies and it's not unsafe. Like many other budget hotels between the station and Avenue Bourguiba, it is worn around the edges and has antiquated bathrooms and fixtures, and not a lot of light. That said, the reception is friendly enough,...
