I always go for international brands when staying in cities I've never been to, but in Tunis there are not many choices. Laico is apparently a Libyan chain, but it has little in common with Hilton, InterContinental or Accor... The hotel looks grand, but in the rooms the furniture and everything else is old and tired. Nothing stands out (food,... More

We stayed in the Laico Tunis for eight days and had a lovely stay. The hotel was very clean, with the rooms turned over twice a day. It was barely a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Tunis and close to the train station to go to Carthage. The pool was clean and for the most part empty, breakfast... More

Attitude: One word to describe the experience: RUDE. I found the staff particularly rude and unhelpful. First, I must confess that speaking French or Arabic is paramount. As an English-only speaker, it was very difficult to get assistance in any form. The most simple need, like finding a decent pen, was challenging. Forget about getting your food requests accurate. I... More

This is what it used to be the ABOU NAWAS and I got the impression that generally speaking service's got slightly worse with the change of ownership/denomination. Also breakfast seems to have worsened especially for the price charged. Rooms obviously are the same, big enough with the usual old/worn out furniture which is so common to hotels in the Maghreb.... I spent 3 nights in this hotel last November The hotel is located near to the city center, 10 min walk from the medina and close to the commercial avenue. The rooms are large, very clean, with large beds and old fashioned but quality furniture. No refrigerator or mini bar. Nice lobby were you can have a cup of tea... More

I recently attended a conference in Tunis and the organisation who arranged this for us got us a good deal at £40 per night which was excellent value for a hotel of this standard. The location of the hotel was was okay for a conference but not sure if I would have wanted to stay here for any other reason.... More
