This was the second and worst Serena establishment out of 4 we stayed in on our recent safari. When we arrived the shower was clearly broken with the cold tap hanging off the wall - too tired and hot to complain immediately we did what we could to wash, clearly who over had cleaned the room that day was aware... more

A very well run lodge with individual cabins on attractive grounds. The staff was friendly and helpful- one of the girls offered to charge our video camera in her office when an adapter couldn't be found. The guys were always smiling, ready to start a conversation. This hotel is located on a hill surounded by vast plains of Serengeti National Park. Although at the far side of the park from Ngorongoro the hotel is well maintained and offers travellers a well deserved rest after a day of safari in the park. Stayed for two nights during a weeks safari. Upgraded to a two bedroom suite with kitchen and lounge, as there was four of us. The rooms had ceiling fans, air con and mosquito nets. The service and food was excellent, complete with armed guards to walk you to your rooms at night as the lodge is in the serengeti. Fantastic... more

This lodge had a lovely feel and was very well run. The staff were obliging and bar staff "Mgini" was quiet a character. The bar for "sundowners" offerred a bushy outlook and some great viewing and photo opportunities of the local bird-life. Nice location to stay while visiting the serengeti. You can look for wildlife while driving to the lodge as well as right outside your door. Food was ok, but nothing to write home about. Rooms were clean, but bathroom could use some new paint. Hot towels were a nice touch when arriving at the end of each day. more
