Pleasantly surprised by this hotel next to Ubongo bus station (the only reason why we stayed here). The room was pretty clean and quiet – we asked for as high a room as possible. There was free bottles of water in the room. We have spent a lot of time in Dar es Salaam in the past and know the... More

The hotel is clean, tidy and well maintained. The staff are very polite and are very keen to please, many speak English. The food is of a good quality and well presented, there is a good choice on the menu. This is a hotel that caters for functions such as weddings and exhibitions, it is not for families on long... "Blue Pearl" sounds like a bar you wouldn't bring your girlfriend to, but it's a hotel just outside Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. The Blue Pearl hotel is a fairly nondescript hotel a few km outside Dar Es Salaam. It's located by a busy highway. Location wise, rather isolated from restaurants or anything else. The hotel is rather dark but is... More

We stayed at the Blue Pearl for 2 nights which were more than enough. When we arrived things like towels etc. was missing in the room. We had no hot water and when we called to complain we waited 2.5 hours and only got a response because we called down to the reception to complain for the 4th time. We... More

The Blue Pearl seems to be orientated towards governmental organizations and NGOs who are having large meetings and conferences there - the lobby area was dominated by large groups of "important" people and their entourages when we were there. As a leisure traveler, we felt like an inconvenience rather than a guest. They could find no record of our room... More

We had some inside advice to stay at the Blue Pearl while attending a conference at the Milimani conference center which is well outside of the downtown corridor. Due to traffic, being close saved literally hours of transport time and cost each day. We were 10-15 minutes even in rush hour. It was wonderful to avoid that stress and cost.... More

While this hotel is out of the city center it is quite easy to get around, although traffic can be quite heavy at times, take a taxi very affordable and very friendly drivers, just look inwards when travelling though, can be a bit scary compared to Irish roads. cover up well and use Insect repellent, mosquito,s bite any bare skin,... This is not a European or North Amercia standards hotel. That said, the rooms are spacious (has a kitchenette) and the bathrooms well appointed. Also the roof top swimming pool comes with a fantastic view of the entire city of Dar. As a result of the management being Pakistani and muslim, the Indian food is good and there is a... More

Big rooms, in fact very big but no WIFI except in the lobby. Rooms are clean - I found no rats or cockroaches there. But the communal areas, especially the bar and dining area, are over-run with cockroaches of all sizes. As for rats - keep an eye on the loud speaker on the wall at the end of the... More

The price charged by Hotels in Dar es Salaam is, in general, quite outrageous. They generally offer very little and want the earth for it. The Blue Pearl have recently hired a Guest Relations Manager, (Sikander) and they do seem to be turning things around as this guy takes his job quite seriously. While they are still a little overpriced... More
