There is not a lot of budget hotel in Santiago (that are well situated OR that are listed on the internet) so I reserved at the Eco Bambu Hotel which costed us 99$ US for a room quadruple, continental breakfast included....Not too expensive but still not a budget hotel. The price was not expensive if we look at the hotel...the... More

If anyone has had the privilege of meeting the owner of the Bambú they would know that he cares much more about accommodating his guests than money. I recently stayed at the Bambú and personally enjoyed the food, but to inform all of the serious food critics, the staff told me that they are in the process of changing the... More

When we booked our reservations for this hotel, and they required a 50% deposit ahead of time, I was a little wary. Rarely do we find that we get what we pay for here regarding hotels in Central America. Well, this place was no exception and I think we've finally learned our lesson this time. We booked two nights (it's... More

Bambu is a few hundred dusty yards off a busy, narrow thoroughfare, but it is a world apart. The property is right on the shore of Lago Atitlan. You can watch local citizens fish, wash their clothing, or even go for a swim right outside your rooms. The rooms are excellant--but not in a Ritz-y sort of way. They are... More

David Yates, the owner of La Casa Colibri Estate in Santa Catarina suggested we do lunch at the Bamboo when we visited Santiago. What a great suggestion. You can eat inside or out. We ate outside and enjoyed the volcano views, water vistas and parts of the village. Everyone enjoyed their food and had a nice time. Our boat driver... More

Thank you to the staff at Bambu. We spent 3 enjoyable days in Bungalow 1, what a fantastic position. With perfect weather we explored the surrounding bay in the kayaks. The food was plain but a good selection in a restaurant with an amazing view. Beautiful gardens and a large pool just topped off a wonderful stay.

When we pulled up to the hotel along the lake, we were just enchanted by the setting. The property is nestled in a lovely garden cooled by gentle lake breezes. The bungalows are spacious and comfy and the pool is large and a great distraction for kids. That said, I fully agree with what other reviewers who have have identified... More

We stayed there over New Year's weekend and we had stayed there before. Fantastic view and helpful staff (not all spoke English). Food was the weakest point with some food great and others so-so.

We had originally booked Posada de Santiago and ended up walking out after they showed us our room which was beautifully decorated but smelled like mold. Bambu was such a pleasant surprise! It was the last room available so we really lucked out. The room was exactly as described and the views were INCREDIBLE. We ended up using their complimentary... More
