We stayed in the 3 bedroom house at the posada at the end of July and absolutely loved it. The best in all of Atitlan. The views as soon as you open your door were fantastic. The lake is amazing. The posada itself has a great staff and we were never treated bad. The restaurant has the most amazing food... more

The Posada is a truly remarkable place. Hot damn, their coffee is so good that I bought three bags of it back home. The food is some of the best I've had anywhere, let alone in such an isolated location. I've spent several trips in Guatemala and after long days of hiking, sightseeing, etc., it really is a wonderful way... more

Our family of four stayed in this hotel comprised of stone bungalows set on the shores of Lake Atitlan. We stayed in the "Junior Suite"--our teenagers enjoyed twin beds in the front room while we enjoyed a very comfortable bed (best mattress of the trip!) in the back room. A soak in the raised hot tub with an incredible view... more

My husband and I stayed here for his birthday and New Year's back in 2006. We took a private boat across Lake Atitlan from Panajachel directly to the Posada, enjoying the spectacular views of the lake and surrounding volcanic mountains. Our first view was of the lakeside pool on the hill, with beautiful landscaping along the steep path leading up... more

I live in Guatemala and have now stayed here three times. It is my favorite place in the country and the first place I bring visitors. The location is beautiful and the service is excellent. Everything I've ever eaten there has been delicious. The prices are great for the high quality of food. Everyone that works there is so helpful,... more

this place is amazing from the quaint stone cottages to the great restaurant, breathtaking views from the pool and hot tub, friendly staff including a great australian barman who mixed delicious cocktails using fresh tropical fruits, an ideal companion for watching the sun sink behind the volcano. more

Posada de Santiago looked like a great place to stay, but it looks different on the internet than when you're actually there. PROS: 1) The food is great. 2) The view is great from the pool area. 3) Santiago de Attitlan is a cool city. CONS:. 1) The rooms in the big peach-ish colored building have a big dog behind... more

Oh gosh, where to start? I'll just respond to some of the numbered complaints 2) We installed new fans yesterday. Thank you for letting us know about this maintenance problem. 3) The loud music is from a church about half a kilometer away. 4) The shower water is filtered and chlorinated. 6) The fishing guide was unavailable; his wife was...

The options at Santiago are limited and the administration knows it. Although it is not the best place to stay at the Lake it has nice rooms and a pool with a beautiful view. Unfortunately the service is poor, and you can find better options in this price range around the lake. When we got to the lake late in... more

First off, I would like to know why this gentleman referred to me an ex-biker. I'm a poet not biker! When I was eighteen, I rode a Honda 300cc Sportster from Northern California to Alaska. I doubt this qualifies me as a biker. This man was so hostile and used so much foul language that we discussed ejecting him from...

This hotel was highly recommended to us by some friends. However our experience was totally different, we look the hotel website and we decided to reserve the Rosa suite and our friends the Jr. Suite because we like to commodities of a 5 stars hotel. To start with there was no coffeemaker in our rooms but there was one on... more

I apologize for what appear to be failures in communication. Otto, the waiter, is learning English. Me, I don't have that excuse-- I talk American real good. It was an attempt at humor when I said that I figured that anyone who could afford the suites could afford room service. We serve a pot of coffee for only two dollars....

We would agree with other reviewers that the Posada, our first stop in Guatemala, was a terrific place to stay. Our little stone cottage number 3 (La Luna, I think) was very appealing and one of the most private. Another advantage was that it involved only a short walk to the restaurant. The fireplace made a real difference during the... more
