When I travel, I look for places that are unique to the environment, locally owned/operated, in a beautiful rural setting, and not too expensive. Cohune Palms met all these requirements and exceeded my expectations. I should have posted a while ago, but feel a responsibility now in response to some of the recent posts. I honestly feel, with all respect,...

I did not like this hotel at all. I went there because I thought it would be peaceful since it was supposed to be in the jungle. Instead all I heard were the sounds of construction, dogs barking, and other people's loud music. Not peaceful at all. The owner of the hotel hooked me up with a tour guide that...

My family traveled to Belize for a week. First we drove from Belize airport for our adventures in the jungle. While the drive on the western highway was not at all beautiful we were happy to arrive to a very well landscaped and clean lodge. Don't let Bullet Tree Falls scare you away, hidden away along the Mopan River under...

Ok, first of all I have to completely agree with Esperanza's review. I didn't want to write a review because we loved Melanie so much but after reading Bevin's response to Esperanza's, I feel like I have to make a comment. Everything Esperanza said about Mike is true, he did the same thing to my husband and I. We were...

Greetings - thanks for your comments. I just wanted to respond quickly - I will briefly respond directly to the "appalling" part of the earlier management response - only to say that I actually explained why cash is preferred and certainly didn't deny that most business owners in Belize prefer it and many add the extra percentage onto their bill...

We stayed in the off season last fall (september) We didnt have reservations and showed up kind of late on evening and Melanie was more than accomodating (even offered to cook us some dinner after she had already cleaned up, I settled for an easy bowl of fruit :) ) The rooms are CABANAS! Not swanky hotel rooms, very basic...

Cohune Palms is a very nice hotel, that much is true. I hate to write anything negative about our stay there because the rooms were splendid and the food was delicious. Just have your ducks in a row regarding your plans and your rates if you decide to stay here. We were offered a discount upon arrival when we asked...

Our thanks for the nice compliments on the grounds, cabanas and meals at Cohune Palms! We are always trying to do our best and respond to any complaints quickly - this goes for all reviews as well. I would like to respond to the rest of the comments because it seems there are some misconceptions and assumptions built into the...

Rough road to get to it but worth it once you arrive. Guenuine and caring staff do their best to keep you happy but the room could have been much cleaner for the price. Still you can't beat a sun deck with a rope swing into a turquoise river.

First of all - Melanie is the best! She cooked each of our meals and they were exceptional! Yes, the price might be a little more than you can find in town, however, we decided "why mess with a good thing?" We were able to pick the time to eat, we were well fed before our adventures in the morning...

I think there were only 5 cabanas so it is small and private. Arriving tired, we were happy to find that he Belikin beer was in the fridge outside in the dining area, and on the honor system. You just mark off how many you take! The way we see it, if they trust us, we can trust them! (And...
