Sounds like you had fun and enjoyed your stay with the exception of the grumpy desk clerk. Not sure who the culpret is, however I have posted your comments for everyone at the desk to see.
As for the parking fee, most of the hotels in this immediate error charge from $12 to $20 dollars per night.
