The State Plaza is at the edge of the George Washington University campus where I was attending a conference. It’s ideal for GWU but it’s also close to the Foggy Bottom (orange and blue) Metro station. If you find a good price at the State Plaza, I’d recommend it for DC tourists or business travelers. The hotel is fairly easy... more

The hotel is near the George Washington University which is nice, clean and quiet area. But, except for a few Starbucks there are not many places to eat after hours. It is on the opposite side of the White House from the main shopping and tourist areas. But if you don't mind a bit of walking it is a nice... more

We have stayed at this hotel twice. Both times it has met all our expectations. The hotel is very reasonably priced, a bargain among D.C. hotels. It is located within easy walking distance of the Kennedy Center and George Washington University, as well as the Foggy Bottom Station, from where you can get anywhere you wish in D.C. The rooms... more

My husband and I stayed here for 2 days. Parking was good, parking attendant was friendly and you were allowed to park your car infront of hotel while you checked in. Then parking attendant takes your car to a parking garage ($30/day). During our stay the weather was in the low 70s and high 60s, and the air conditioner in... more

I stayed at the State Plaza Hotel in Washington, D.C., the weekend of September 25-27, 2009, and absolutely loved it! The hotel is in a good location; a little off the beaten path, but you get what you pay for and the price is not that of a trendy hotel a block from Capitol Hill. The room was nice: two... more

Stayed one night at State Plaza Hotel in Washington DC based on the comments from trip advisor. Arrived by train and took the Metro subway to within five blocks of the hotel for $1.45. The room was HUGE and had a nice kitchen with a stove, fridge with a freezer, microwave, and even had a toaster. The room was clean,... more

I think they jacked the price due to the Marine Corp Marathon being held that weekend, which we were not participating in. However, they upgraded us to a Junior Suite, which was way more room than we needed. We were meeting family members who had flown in from out west and were staying here. We had a better room than... more

Our rate was 98.00/night and 30.00/night for garage parking. One of the cleanest hotels we've stayed in recently. Valets, concierge and housekeeping were very effecient and filled all of our requests promptly. 10 minute walk to the Lincoln Memorial, 15 minutes to the White House. Felt very safe walking to and from, however we did choose to taxi at night.... more

i got very lucky. About fi ve days before going to D.C. I called for hotels. Had never stayed in DC before. all were booked. The Hyatt was $400 a night but i am from Chicago and used to big city hotel prices. On a whim I tried the State Plaza hotel after doing an internet search and reading some... more
