My boyfriend and I stayed here in the old library room just before Christmas. We found it by accident and loved it! Free kayak use was a perfect addition, as were the hammocks. The couple were lovely and the place was so relaxed and very clean. We went on a boat trip with the owner around the sounds too, and... More

What an awesome spot! The Queen Charlotte track is right there, we had access to Kayaks and Mountain bikes and the hammocks were used daily. This place is also right by the jetty for boat access. Very homey atmosphere, very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Coffee machine was great - could not have asked for more. We stayed... More

My partner and I stayed for one night at the multishare room at the Anakiwa Backpackers after finishing the Queen Charlotte Track. It is conveniently located right at the end of the track and right by the wharf. The accommodation is very clean and well-equipped, from kitchen facilities to board games and books in the lounge. But I believe the... More

My 3 night stay was very comfortable at Anakiwa and it is right at the start of the Queen Charlotte track. The owners were friendly and helpful and the hostel was clean, bright and cheerful

Extremely beautiful location, great for a free kajak tour. Very clean rooms and super friendly staff. Well equipped kitchen Overall a great place to relax, though the share room is quite small.

This was our first stop on the south island from New Zealand and our first backpackers hostel. At the moment of writing this review we are experiencing another backpackers hostel which maybe has a bit bigger room and bigger bed, but doesn't offer the same experience Anakiwa Backpackers is offering. The shared living room and kitchen are very clean and... More

We (3 girls) had the bay view apartment for three nights and it was our best stay yet. The apt has a kitchen and bath ensuite, is very clean with a homey feel. Beds were great! Never slept quieter on our trip. The best: the terrace with a great view of Anakiwa, the jetty and the bay, as well as... More

We finished the Queen Charlotte track and my walking companion said he wouldn't walk a step further - luckily he didn't have to as the hostel was just there - perfectly located with Tanya and shane being so welcoming and helpful (plus love from the dogs - Scrappy and AB!) Shane sorted us some food out so that we could... More
