My brief stay at Jugglers Rest left me hoping I can return some day. My Sweetie and I heard about Jugglers Rest via the raves of a fellow traveler we met the night before. We stayed there the night of May 1st, 2013 before catching an early ferry the next morning. There were just a few guests on this off-season... More

I had always dreamed of finding a hostel like this. A beautifully restored historic villa surrounded by amazing gardens. The hosts, Nikki and Bruce, couldn't have been more welcoming or friendly. I was amazed to find an organic vege and herb garden and numerous fruit trees. The bathrooms and Kitchen are the best appointed and, more importantly, cleanest I have... More

This is a good place for backpackers, and I can imagine it must be perfect if you're travelling alone. It's a very social place, you always meet nice people in the different "relax areas". Clean and cozy rooms, very friendly and helpful staff, nice and well equipped kitchen, good location.

We spend two nights at Jugglers Rest and enjoyed ourselves greatly. Nikki is amazing - super friendly and accommodating to everyone - very engaging with the young ones too! The kitchen facilities are very nice--with all utensils and even some great spices, olive oils, etc. to use. We stayed in one of the double "cabins," which are cleverly converted containers... More

Nikki was an absolutely brilliant host who on top of, giving us tips and advice on getting around, food deals, discount coupons, is a beautiful fire Poi dancer and her performance was simply beautiful. It also has a nicely decorated and comfortable lounge, clean bathrooms, comfortable beds and it really feels like a home away from home. Will definitely be... More

We needed a room for the night as we were taking the ferry to Wellington the next day. As it was Easter Saturday night, ALL motels were booked out. I was a bit hesitant about a backpackers as I had my own ideas about 'these places'. well Jugglers Rest was a great choice. Nikki is a very friendly hostess who... More

I booked a bed in a share room at the last minute at Jugglers Rest and was delighted I did. This is an absolute gem of a hostel. The owner is incredibly helpful and accommodating providing me with all the information I needed to walk the Queen Margaret Track. The whole hostel is as cosy as they come meaning it... More

We had a booking for one night and were scheduled to arrive around 7pm. Due to an unexpected doctor appt, we didn't arrive until almost midnight. I was worried they wouldn't let us stay, but we called ahead and they said not a problem the room would be ready for us. Not only was the room ready for us but... More

We stayed for several days, before the Queen Charlotte track and before crossing to the North Island. We had an absolutely wonderful time. The place is great - a villa with spacious rooms, an inviting dining/living room and a well equipped kitchen. But the absolute highlight is the owner, Nikki, who manages to make the place feel like home. Always... More

This place is just lovely and so relaxing - Nikki has done such a great job with the grounds (fresh grapes from the grapevines every morning, big lavender and rosemary bushes out front, hammocks everywhere for lounging), and the energy of the place is really rejuvenating. I'll definitely revisit whenever I'm in Picton. Also the fresh baked bread in the... More
