I stayed one night at the Birini Castle. The castle looks very nice from the outside and has a fine view over a little lake. The hotel rooms (except te suites) are in a building next the castle. “Beautiful, relaxing small castle - stay here if you can!!”

OK guys, if you're going to Riga, this place is worth considering. Birini Castle is a little run down but it is brilliant... the sort of place the very highest Soviet officials would have stayed for their summer holidays.
