I booked the hotel because it seemed like a great price, it had a pool, and seemed to be well located, however, none of those components really paid off. The pool was not part of the hotel, but you had to pay a surcharge to use it, as it was a public pool located in the same building complex. The... more

For 50 Euros a single - this place has nothing to offer but the olympic pool that you get access to. That is a treat, indeed, but everything else is crap. Or almost. Not that you would not enjoy the history of this place, with it's narrow hallways, vintage pictures and squeeking furniture, but this is no place to rest.... more

The Csaszar is housed in a restored convent overlooking a swimming complex. It's perfectly nice; the rooms have been beautifully redone and are adequately sized, and there's something very atmospheric about being in central Europe while watching elderly men in speedos do their laps. However, the nature of the architecture means that all the rooms are on two long, narrow... more

You won't find better place in the center of Budapest for that price. The room was tiny, but very clean and the staff was EXTREMELY helpful! Highly recommended. more

Stayed at this hotel in April 2007. Was a bit uncertain when booking, as the reviews were pretty different, but the place proved to be an excellent choice! 46 Euro for a single room in central Budapest! Breakfast was included as well and was simple, but in Budapest there should be no complaints about food - nice and very affordable... more

This is a great little hotel to stay in if you are on a cheap short break with friends. We had a four bedded room which worried about but it turned out to be great, although they do get hot as the Air Con is not the greatest! Oh and take ear plugs as the trams are a bit noisy!... more

If you don expect a five-star experience when you pay for a one-star one, this hotel will do fine. The rooms are basic - bed, bath, closet and a small desk. But our room was certainly clean as was the bathroom. The hotel is on a street with a tram-line and a bit noisy. On the other side the hotel... more

I just returned from Budapest where I stayed 3 nights at the Csaszar Hotel. I traveled with my husband and our two small children. There are many reasons the hotel is as cheap as it is. The advertised air conditioning actually made our room hotter -- the first night it was more than 85 degrees (30 Celsius) in our room.... more

Hotel Csaszar has two advantages: It is cheap and once a day you have free entry to the adjacent Kumjasi swimming pool. Unfortunately, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. Firstly, there is no way to expect a good night's rest, because the noisy tram passes right in front of every room's window starting at 5 o'clock in the morning. Secondly, the... more
