“No receipts, poor service, but acceptable”

No sign to indicate its existence. Hungary has fences and gates everywhere. Neighbours didn't seem to know it existed. We phone up the international number provided, no answer. Immediate call back informs us someone will let us in in 15 minutes. Asked twice for a receipt, without getting one. Rooms clean; fresh linen provided. Found them on booking.com

I have stayed at the Retro on many occasions and have always been satisfied. Of course, the satisfaction went along with what I paid. For the price of accommodation and breakfast at the Retro you couldn'g get a croissant at similar centrally located hotels. And the Auchan just accross the road - just perfect. “Too expensive for the service they provide”

The only reason why we stayed there is the close location to Sziget Festival. The hotel is called Retro and so it is. The old toilets, old showers and a little bit broken water dispensers. No AC (summers in Budapest are very hot). There is no safe in the room but there are crawling insects in the bathroom. The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere. I saw employee returning the food from the plate to the breakfast buffet. Stay away from that place.
