The staff were friendly & helpful but that is all that can be said about the motel. It is not clean, very tired & overly expensive. Would not recommend a stay there. One night was too long.

We relied on the tourist offices for bookings and this was their only error but not their fault, a bit of cleaning by the Motel would make it an nice place, even though it’s a bit tired, old white goods and well worn stained doors, a bit of effort and it could be very good. One thing we found odd,... More

We stayed at this motel for our first night along the Great Ocean Road. The rooms were OK but they could have done with a better clean. The people were nice but as it was busy there and there were people everywhere so we spent most of our time at the beach. Its fine for a one night stay and... More

Had a very disappointing stay. Had originally booked a 4* wotif mystery hotel deal in torquay - only to be called up 30 mins before our arrival notifying us that our prebooked hotel was full up and that we were instead to stay at the Surf City Motel :( Definitely not 4* and very drab/dated. Apart from location, there's not... More

oWe spent 3 days on the great ocean road and this was the worst place we stayed at. It is on the Esplanade so good location, but none of the rooms have a view. In fact our window was opposite a brick wall of the neighbours. The room was basic and tired. There was only one bed lamp which was... More

We had stayed once before in Torquay, seeking the Torquay Motel room with the view of the Sydney Opera House or the hanging gardens of Babylon! When we decided to travel the Great ocen Road again, we picked a motel from the web and I sort of hoped it wasn't the same one we had stayed at before which was... More

I am not a budget traveler, at least not anymore. But I look for value in the places I stay, and during a two-week trip to Australia, the Surf City Motel turned out to be the priciest of all my accommodation-- and I stayed in a modern serviced apartment in the Melbourne city centre as well as a design-y hotel... We recently stayed here on the recomendation of the Torquay information centre, came highly recommended, not sure why the place was the pits, cost $195.00 for a very dated unit. The unit was clean, but only just but the surronds, grounds and gardens were very untidy, unkempt. As we had not booked we had to pay what was asked as... More

I stayed here a few months ago, thinking it wasn't all that great at the time, but looking back, it was better than any other motel/hotel on the esplanade, having just gotten back from the Crowne Plaze further up the coast, I can say at least with the Surf City Motel I slept, the staff were very friendly, It could... i stayed in a king room which had a king bed in one room and another room with 2 single beds. bathroom had a shower over the spa, but no shower curtain which was a bit odd. the room is quite comfortable. beds/pillows were comfortable and the rooms all have air-conditioning. you could not get a better location. it is...
