I don't write the words 'worst place we have EVER stayed at without serious consideration as to what this means. So, why was it the worst place we have ever stayed at. The four of us found the photos charming as were the email correspondences...and that is the only positive thing I can say. The beds were terrible and we... More

Unfortunately I only stayed one night but I absolutely loved this house. It's an old Victorian style guesthouse with lots of charm and views to the Mountains. It smelled like open fireplaces everywhere in the neighbourhood and I felt like a million years away from Sydney. Upon check in they upgraded me to a nicer room than I had booked... More

I stayed at Cecile's for one night, but when I'll go back to the Blue Mountains again, I will definitly stay here again. It was all very clean, good service, lovely view and located very central. They have nice things to keep you warm during the cold nights like an electric bed heating and a electric heater. So lovely!

This was an excellent venue for our annual girls' weekend.Whilst most of us stayed in private rooms with facilities it was great to have the use of the guest's lounge and games room. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, loved the crisp white sheets. Staff ( our dutch friend) was very friendly and helpful. Loved the old world charm and... More

Whilst the Cecil Guesthouse may not have all the luxuries of a 5* boutique hotel it has a certain charm that is undeniable. It is very clean, the staff are very friendly and the fact that a (continental) breakfast is included in the price makes this outstanding value. Its centre of town location combined with its low price make it... More

we stayed at the cecil for 2 nights on our trip to the blue mountains, as the aussie dollar was so strong this was the most cost effective option but still expensive for what we got. The hotel is old and run down, but they are attempting to renovate the place. The staff are increbibly helpful and kind. A nice... More

I've been staying here for the music festival weekend for quite a few years and had seen the place get more and more rundown to the extent that I wouldn't stay there anymore. Now, under new management, the old girl is gradually being done up. There's a sense that she's a guesthouse again, not a run down backpackers, and that... More

I recently stayed a night here and found it fine, more than fine. With the Australian dollar so strong, it's hard to find a single room for under $50 but I managed to get one here that was spotless... Yes the décor is old and it needs TLC but the important things were all in place; cleanliness, location, a comfy... More

This property can be viewed either way. We saw the character and bemoaned the deferred maintenance. But we have a 90 year old house and know how much it takes to maintain a older property. Yes it could be refurbished but you would not be paying the affordable (for Australia) rates. We were happy to take in the character and... More

Staying at the Cecil guesthouse is like walking into the set of an Agatha Christie movie, or reliving early childhood memories of English seaside guesthouse holidays. It was built 100 years ago, and still retains many of the features of a property from an earlier era, such as tea-rooms, pantries, and art nouveau furniture. Unfortunately, time has not been forgiving... More
