We booked into this guesthouse because it looked brass-bed, mountain-view, open-fire romantic on the web. It cost $150 a night for just the room. We were hopefull. It was the most bare little motel room imaginable, with curtains of such skimpy proportions that people could look under and around - and through the middle. Cream, bad-taste 70's decor - tiny... We found this by accident but were pleasantly surprised. It is not a fancy place but quite comfortable and within walking distance to stores, restaurants and the RSL is right next door. You can walk to Echo Point from here but it is about 20 minutes or so walk. It was very reasonable cost and suited us just fine. We... More

For the price it was pretty good considering we get our own spacious room en suite toilet. Everything was clean, basic with some random stuff at the cupboard for coffee. The water boiler was the only thing that seemed a bit old and rundown (it was stained brown from the inside, considering the entire thing is supposedly white...) Nothing stank... More

Duty Management on 3 Feb was without doubt the rudest 1 have encountered. And...the bed had a sloping gradient of 10 degrees - the worst I have slept on since boarding school. Don't stay here. Spend your money somewhere else - where they appreciate your business!

So the negatives first. The rooms are either motel style which lack personality, or early 1900s which have high ceilings, are spacious, but are generally a bit old. That said the place has a huge amount of character, the main room is live music venue where they have folk, blues, jazz and country. Once you get into the swing of... More

Looked at quite a few places on a budget but most of them had a big downer on their location. This had an ok room, nice bed, basic bathroom but very well located at the start of Lurline street, so easy access on foot to main parts of Katoomba Street and all its eating places. Nice comfortable stay and great... More

Returning after 68 years, the building itself hadn't changed much! A lick of paint and carpets helps it get to the 3 star standard. Definitely for lovers of older type places when staying in the guesthouse, not the attached motel part. All the staff were super friendly and the breakfast in the dining room was fantastic - especially the dinner-plate-sized... More

If you are expecting a five star hotel than you need to pay for it. The location is perfect, two minutes stroll into town, galleries, cafe's, ten minutes stroll from the three sisters, lookouts etc. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The Clarendon is Cosy and comfortable. Our group decided to try The Clarendon for our Yulefest getaway this... More

A great place to stay if you want convenience to all attractions. To all those people complaining about the music......It is first and foremost a music venue with some wonderful local and international artists appearing there. The rooms are dated but are very clean and have all the comforts needed for a good night's sleep. We would definitely stay there... More

This was a last minute booking that we did from our hotel in Sydney and we were dropped of at the entrance, which is bang on the road!! by our tour bus on a wet Saturday evening. The highlight of the place is a Supper Theatre which hosts some pretty good Artistes. The Service is Casual Australian, which is not... More
