I previously stayed here for work on recommendation from a work friend. I stay here a few times on my travels and it is okay. I can't fault the room - it is clean, basic and has everything you need. My main issues are with the restaurant. I have only had 2 experiences 1) there were not enough people in... More

Stayed in disabled room for one night. Parking was tight but parallel to room. Room had two beds and good kitchenette. Bathroom had rails and very low shower stool. Plastic garden chair supplied was appreciated. Staff friendly. Pity, the restaurant didn't have disabled access. Ate in town at Mt Lyell? hotel/motel opposite Empire Hotel - good disabled access, very helpful... More

Have stayed many times at the Gold Rush and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Reason for the many visits over the last 12 years is because I have been conducting tour groups from N Z to Tasmania and have stayed here enroute to enjoying the Gordon River cruise with World Heritage Cruises. The more than adequate accommodation, the very good home... More

The motel is rather dated in all ways, but there is nothing else really in this town that is any better. About 800 mts from the middle of town, whch provides for a good nights sleep with little noise. Resteraunt is only open some nights. Rooms were clean but very dated.

Had a fantastic stay! Alice and Rodney along with the team made my stay exceptional. Very clean, comfortable, walking distance to everything, great restaurant, fantastic veiws. Perfect base to explore the West Coast of Tasmania. The West Coast Railway which took me to Strahan is just walking distance.

From the terrifying drive down the steep road into Queenstown we pulled inot he first Motel we saw. We were surrounded by moon like pitted cliffs and low clouds. The scenery was surreal. The Motel room. Basic but clean and WARM, It was freezing outside. The room was a little small, but it had all the basics. Tea/Coffee and toaster.... More
