This amazing historical property is like stepping back in time. Thank you Bill and Maureen for making our overnight stay so comfortable and certainly the best cooked breakfast on our two month stay in Australia (something about us Westerners who produce a good breakfast). To bump into other guests who lived within 40 miles of us was truly amazing so... More

Hosts were warm and welcoming, breakfast was delicious and room was clean and spacious. Even had electric blankets for the cold night. Had dinner at Hamer's Grill Strahan, a great recommendation by Bill. Great place to stay.

Had two nights in Queenstown and chose to stay at Penghana B&B. Very good choice. Booked the Jukes family four share. Lovely large rooms, well furnished, (had shared bathroom and toilet which only service the Jukes rooms so ideal for family group travel). Wonderful hosts Maureen and Bill, lovely breakfast (best on our trip), guest kitchen, lounge with complimentary port,... More

Looking around Queenstown we certainly made the best choice for our two night stay. We arrived at what was clearly an upsetting time for the owners who were dealing with a family bereavement however Sue the stand-in general factotum coped masterfully. Fellow guests however drew attention to what may or may not be a reoccurring frustration. A 4.00am departure by... More

A group of us stayed at Penghana B&B as a stopover between walking the Overland Track and rafting the Franklin River. It is a beatiful old house in immaculate condition. It is listed by the National Trust and run by Maureen and Bill Kerr. They are the ultimate hosts, and made us all welcome and could not have done anything... More

I can see there are already some raving reviews about this astonishing place, but I still feel inclined to do my bit. Just to make sure you make the right choice: this is more than an hotel - it's an experience. Having travelled extensively throughout the world, i've come top find that hospitality doesn'r come easy in a lot of... More

This is the place to stay in Queenstown, a piece of mining history as it was the mining manager's mansion until 1994 when the National Trust took it over, and now is leased as a B&B. Fascinating to hear the history of the house and town from the hosts who are most knowledgeable of the ups and downs of the... More

Having been referred to Penghana by a friend, I must say that our high expectations were definitely not disappointed. Bill and Maureen were the perfect hosts and we really appreciated their friendly invitation to make Penghana our home for the three nights of our stay. Our large and beautifully appointed room was the Owen Room with a massive picture window... More

We stayed in the Huxley room, which was very disappointingly compact, with a tiny shower with awful water pressure, yet the bed was comfy, and the TV had only SBS and ABC. The owners were friendly and helpful and breakfast was delicious. A spacious kitchen provided Fridge, crockery, cutlery. Tea/Coffee Etc.

First of all, if you're reading this review, you are considering spending a night in Queenstown. My advice to you is: don't. Keep going. Keep on driving. Go to Strahan. Go to Zeehan. Go to Rosebery. Anything is better than Queenstown, which IMO is simply dreadful and depressing. But if for some inexplicable reason you must stay in Queenstown, then... More
