As we travelled up the East Coast, several other backpackers have expressed their delight at being part of this chain Hostel group which offer discounts if you buy a membership card. The location and the staff are friendly at this place but thats as far as it goes. The kitchen has got to be the worst. Deposits of $20 are... More

Stayed in a 10 bed dorm, wasnt too bad stayed in worse places, room seemed clean enough didn't have trouble with the shower room as I hardly saw anyone from my dorm. The kitchen was too small, completely packed and overcrowded was a good 2 hour wait to prepare and cook dinner so ended up going out. The staff seemed... More

I've spent the last 9 months travelling central and south America, new Zealand and Australia. I've also stayed in many hostels spanning the breadth of Europe in my backpacking life so I am well accustomed to hostel living and the degrees to which they can vary.  Nomads is one of the most unpleasant experiences I've had so far. It's not... More

We decided to stay an extra night in Airlie Beach before we headed off on our Whitsundays tour. The location is great and also the hostel has a good vibe to it but the kitchen was filthy and had no utensils in it making cooking a nightmare and long slow process waiting for the one sharp knife and 3 frying... We stayed here the night before our whitsunday boat trip, we arrived to find a lot of comotion which turned out to be because a guy had found a tarantula in his mix dorm! and yes it turns out this was later my dorm. I wasnt too worried about a repeat as I was reassured by staff this was the... More

Was not impressed with Nomads. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm, creaky beds and filthy bathroom. The kitchen had an actual fly infestation, it was pretty nasty. Definitely a party hostel, we had a dorm right at the back of the property so noise wasn't an issue. The staff were rude (perhaps hungover), who knows but i was happy... More

Nomads, I look at you and see great things. Shared pool, cheap (er) drinks machines, well-thought-out hammocks and dorms modeled on millionaire’s beach huts. You are young; there is probably a great future ahead of you. Unfortunately, while I lined up to check out behind 60-odd of your blonde and bronzed clientele I could not help but dwell on all... We camped here for 5 days over Easter. As it was the holiday period we had no choice to leave once booked in as everything else in town was booked out. The camp area was not maintained at all, overgrown and littered with debris. The toilets and showers were absolutely feral. Some of the shower/toilets had the locks broken off,... More

We stayed here for one night before our trip to the Whitsundays and I do wish I had stayed longer. The rooms were really nice, each with their own en suite bathroom. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm out the back of the hostel and it was great, away from the main street noise. I had heard from other... More

Got stuck in Airlie Beach because of floods and ended up staying here for 4 nights. Check in/check out was a nightmare with the longest, slowest queues I have ever seen in my life at a hostel. The one employee seemed to have no idea what he was doing and later on in the day I saw him napping on... More
