I stay at Black Firs once a year for work purposes and it's a pleasure to stay somewhere that is welcoming and homely compared to most of the anonymous hotels in the area. The proprietor Julie is always very helpful with taxis etc and they do one of the best English breakfasts I've had in a hotel. I should say... More

I booked a room at Black Firs at the last minute to visit a trade show at the NEC. The accommodation is first class, I was greeted with a very warm welcome from Julie the owner, shown to a pristine and comfortable room with view of the garden. The FREE wifi was a welcome bonus that my colleagues paying a... More

We arrived here very weary after getting married the previous day (we stayed here before a morning flight from Birmingham Airport, which is a 10 minute drive)! Lovely warm welcolm from the lady who runs the place, great recommendation for some where to eat (Bulls Head I think), the bed was super comfy, the breakfast was superb. 10/10, would say... More

This is my tenth year of using Black Firs Guesthouse as my place of rest when visiting the NEC for business. Why? Simple, Julie and her sister Tracey, deliver a generous, warm, friendly and consistent service. Julie is always welcoming and is always prepared to go the extra mile to help with suggestions for where to find a good, reasonably... More

We stayed here so we could enjoy Il Divo in concert nearby. It is easy to get a taxi straight to the arena and made it a more special event. Our welcome was very warm; room was comfortable and clean. Best thing was the superb breakfast - one of the best we've had anywhere! Even the toast was 'special' bread.... More

We stayed at this guesthouse as we were visiting the Gadget Show at the NEC. The owners were lovely and helpful with all the questions we had regarding getting to and from the NEC as well as where to eat on an evening. They made us feel relaxed and welcome. The room was very clean and quiet and the breakfast... More

Stepping through the door of Black Firs is like coming home. It's no surprise to learn that Julie has won Landlady of the Year - it's hard to imagine anyone could do more to make her guests feel welcome and relaxed. I've been staying at Black Firs when on business in Birmingham since 2004 and have never been disappointed. This... More

I attend at least one conference a year at the NEC and I returned again last week to Black Firs. Julie, Clive and Tracy have an amazing ability to make you feel as if you are the most important guest they have ever had (which of course I am :-) Breakfast is great, rooms are clean, warm and especially quiet....
