We arrived at Motel Russell and were asked if we took milk. On saying we did, we were given a strictly measured quantity of milk - just about enough for two cups each. Fine. We went out to dinner and at 8pm I realised we didn't have any sugar for our morning cup of tea. I went round to the Reception and found it had closed at 7pm. I got a glimpse of the manager and asked politely if there was any chance of getting more sugar. He went ballistic and said the unit would be serviced tomorrow. "After we've left?" I asked. "Yes," he replied. He went on to say that the Reception closed at 7pm so he could "have a life!" He did relent and got me some more sugar but it was done very grudgingly. 7pm does seem very early to close the Reception and I think the manager should consider whether he is suited to a service industry. more
