Our second trip to this B & B and well worth it. Excellent furnishings and a very warm greeting that made us quite at home in NZ. Their tour of their upcoming olive oil harvest made our stay very personable. They made sure to let us know of the best restaurant nearby for our dining requests. More

We wish country and quiet B&B, not city center. By rent car, it is easy to access. More

Be prepared for a gorgeous experience. Sheryl and Ken are artists, and their work adorns their house and gardens. Ken's mosaics are visible on the bathroom tiled floor and garden paths. Sheryl's amazing fabric art is exquisite, from the comforter cover on the bed to wall decorations, lampshades, and pillows in the living room. Breakfast was delicious, with homemade preserves... We re-visit Ranui Retreat each time we're in NZ and for several nights, which says a lot. The self-contained room has a fantastic bedspread made by Sheryl. Ken and Sheryl are fun hosts and Sheryl's cooking superb, so consider the DBB option. Steam Punk Exhibition in Oamaru was amazing. More

We received a wonderful welcome, were made to feel very much at home, and were shown to our very comfortable and beautifully colour co-ordinated "lavender room." There was a queen size bed with a wonderful hand made bedspread and many other artefacts made by the owners. We were able to roam the lovely gardens, and really felt as if we... More

A lovely home in rural setting, 10 kms from Oamaru, perhaps the most under-rated city we visited in New Zealand with its beautiful Victorian gleaming white stone buildings. Our room with private bath was spacious and comfortable. Our hosts were charming and offered us good advice. We will always remember the antics of the tiny blue penguins.. More

This was our second stay at Ranui Retreat, just south of Oamaru. Sheryl and Ken really enjoy sharing their beautiful home with guests and could not have made us more welcome. The dog appreciates your company too! Good wholesome food, imaginatively prepared plus stimulating conversation make mealtimes a pleasure. It's worth returning early to walk around the garden and olive... More

We came across this bed and breakfast while driving around the south island. Sheryl and Ken were very welcoming and went the extra mile to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. They knew the local area well and we found their home warm and inviting - and more importantly for us relaxing! We'll definately stay there again if we go... More
