This motel is the first motel you see as you drive in to Kaikoura, a bit far out from the beach and other going-ons but if you have a car with you than it's fine. Spacious room, there were four of us, kitchen had complete equipment and swimming pool was warm and clean. On top of this, the hostess gave... More

Another basic, acceptable motel found through i-site after I gave them a price range. The check-in went smoothly and the room was clean with all expected facilities. The associated tavern was pleasant for an after dinner drink as NZ blood alcohol limits are quite low. More

I arrived around noon as I it had not taken me as long to drive up there as I thought. The receptionist went to check if my room was ready, came back and said it was so I checked in straight away. I wanted to book a whale watching trip and the receptionist rang up for me, gave me all... More

Stayed one night only as we were there for the whale watching. We chose The Lobster Inn as it was the only accomdation we could locate with a pool other than the camp ground. The weather was drizzling on and off and the kids were looking forward to a swim after being cooped up in the car. Upon our enquiry about... More

We arrived here when the weather was totally unpleasant and very cold.First impressions were excellent we parked directly outside our rooms and upon entering found that management had already turned on the heating( we booked ahead).Consequently the rooms which were comfortable were warm and welcoming. The attached Tavern and restaurant were much appreciated as we did not want to face more... I stayed here with friends during a rainy off season weekend. The hotel is clean, functional and completely served it's purpose. The bedroom had decent beds with electric blankets, tv, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities. All in all, pretty comfortable for a quick overnight stay. The walls were pretty thin, but we were the only people staying there, so it wasn't... More

We stayed at the Lobster Motor Inn as it was one of the only places with vacancies in Kaikoura on Easter weekend. It is a fairly standard motel. We had a studio which was spacious and clean though lacked character. There is a communal veranda which you can sit out on, but as it also the main walkway to the... More

We stayed here for two nights during our NZ self drive tour. The place is well located and quite clean and tidy. Its close to the Whale watching but we found th estaff a little rude. We were told that we had breakfast as a part of our package by our travel agent but was refused by the staff at... More

You'll spot this place by the GIANT red lobster on the front of the building. Its a very clean compact little motel and parking right outside the patio doors (entrance to motel room) Pretty cheap accomodation and nice and quiet behing the road. We were pretty tired by the time we got there fairly late after a long drive from... More
