We stayed at the Fish Tank Lodge on the recommendations of others, we were'nt dissapointed. What a great place to stay, friendly staff, clean rooms. Other guests were friendly too. Common areas clean and tidy, and fantastic art work on the walls. We recommend this place.

We had a very pleasant stay at the fishtank lodge. The rooms were nice, the other guests were nice, the common areas are big, clean and nicely decorated. But most of all, we liked the owner. Very friendly guy, very helpful with everything. I can definitely recommend this place.

Lovely hostel. Beds were really comfortable, bedroom was spacious. Friendly crowd and staff. The place was spotless and there was a really nice roof terrace as well. Bus stops are right outside the hostel, Information centre is over the road as well. Highly recommend.

By far the best hostel I visited in New Zealand. Everything was clean, everyone was friendly, and the atmosphere was laid back. The location is perfect, right on the main stretch of road in Kaikoura, close to all the tourist attractions and across the road from the bus stop and the i-Site. There is a great balcony with a beautiful... More

I stayed a few days in Fishtank in order to do some activities in Kaikoura. The hostel is good, the vibes were especially good when I was here due to two malaisien girl who were learning how to cook and, then, were cooking cakes all the time, were there all the time having fun. Except for that there is nothing... More

This hostel is one of the best in New Zealand. It's really cosy and homely and is a great place to meet new people. The whole hostel is spotless. The TV lounge is great on a rainy day as is the balcony on a sunny day. The staff are really friendly and made me feel very welcome. I would recommend... More

My friends and I stayed here for one night as we passed through Kaikoura. The staff were all very nice, the rooms clean and quiet.

Myself and my partner stayed at Fish Tank Lodge for 2 nights in September. We absolutely loved the place. Beds were comfy, rooms were warm and the place has been decorated very creatively! Nathan - the owner - is a lovely guy and did all he could to accommodate us. His customer service skills could not be faulted and we... More

This is a wonderful place to stay in Kaikoura. The owner, Nathan, embodies that wonderful Kiwi warmth and friendliness as does the rest of the staff. The rooms are all clean, the kitchen area is warm and inviting, and the rooms have fun, bright, cheerful murals all over. You can tell that the owner has put a lot of thought... More

I stayed at the Fish Tank for 3 nights. The owner Nathan is really friendly and helpful. The dorms are good, well ventilated and have very stable wooden frame beds which means that if you have light sleep as I do you wont wake up every time the person sleeping I the upper bunk turns. The location is excellent, just... More
