We stayed two nights in April as a family with our 10 year old child at this lovely BnB. When we arrived Malcom the host immediately offered us tea and coffee, delicious muffins and Kiwi fruits therewith we enjoyed a lovely tea time on the great verandah and appreciated the warm hospitality very much. We fell in love with the... More

Cheryl and Malcolm made us very welcome at their lovely beach-side home. Our room was spacious and had views across the garden to the sea. We were introduced to their sheep and goats and used a canoe to explore the river and coastal area. Breakfast was delicious. We also enjoyed our evening meals with Cheryl and Malcolm and other guests.... More

- beachview-rooms with direct view on the beach (and the Tasman Sea) - very comfortable, clean rooms with cosy beds - very friendly landlords who chat with guests as if they were their friends - good breakfast included in the B&B - nice little "zoo" (sheep, goat, cat) especially interesting for city-people

We spent a long time looking for somewhere to stay on the west coast after driving up from Wanaka. Once we had decided we could not face the tourist hordes in Fox & Franz Josef, Hokitika was the next best bet. Awatuna Beachside lies a bit outside Hokitika (in Awatuna in fact, which explains the name) and it was a... More

We arrived after a long journey and the sun decided to shine at last! we were greeted and shown to our lovely room with fantastic sea views and pretty deck where we were served a very welcome afternoon tea. We relaxed on the deck in the hot sun and enjoyed the noise of the ocean and wandered round the beautiful... More

Pleasant bed and breakfast located a little north of Hokitika. Hosts Cheryl and Malcolm were very welcoming and friendly. The location was nice - very close to the beach (though not appropriate for swimming), with great ocean views. The room was large with a comfy bed. There was a nice stand of tea, coffee and drinking chocolate for self service,... More

Very quiet and peaceful house by the sea, with easy beach access. Very welcoming and caring hosts, excellent for a couple of days of peace off the beaten track. A whitebait enthusiast expert.

We had a wonderful stay with Malcolm and Cheryl at Awatuna Beachside. We couldn't have been made more welcome, our room was perfect with the sound of the sea reminding us of cruising holidays. After a restful sleep we dined on a delicious breakfast including pancakes,. One of the loveliest B & Bs we have ever stayed in.
