Outstandingly clean, terrific value and super-friendly staff! This was our second stay & last time we slept in a road-side room which I have to say is quieter & therefore made for a much better night's sleep. What I assume is a cool-room out the back of the restaurant goes on and off all night & makes any room nearby... More

This might be a good option for people travelling in a pack, we got a room up to a max of 4 people for only 90 bucks but the bargain stopped there. You'll need to share a kitchen (the room doesn't even have tea/coffee facilities) and TV though you can choose to rent one for $10. The whole place felt... More

This is a review of the bunk/dorm option the Junction Hotel offers. I wish I could give 3.5 stars as a rating as that is what I feel it earns, but 3* will have to do. It's not a 4* hostel experience so I can't bump it up. I stayed at the Junction Hotel for 3 days at the end... More

Loved this little hotel. Nothing about it was mindblowingly awesome, but the staff were beyond sweet, the rooms were clean (and probably the cheapest you'll find in New Zealand), and the bar and restaurant downstairs were lovely (try the $10 burger/beer special on Monday and Tuesday nights). Thames is also a great place to base out of if you're looking... More

The hotel and facilities were definitely older, with small dark rooms, cracks in bathroom tiles and dated carpets. However, it was adequately clean, the people running the place were nice and nothing else nearby came close to the price. The other people staying over seemed pleasant and the place had more of an old and curious feel to it than... More

The Junction is an old hotel with old facilities. If you're after a solid, budget priced hotel with great old fashioned service, then book in today. Their restaurant is wonderful with a comprehensive menu (the mussels are amazing) at great prices, served up by very friendly and easy going staff. The real gem of the Hotel was Dave in the... More

We chose this hotel because of its historic nature, reviews on Tripadvisor, its own website and a phone call to the owners. Much work is being done to bring it up to modern standard but sadly it still has a long way to go. The ambience and the food in the restaurant is great, but the rooms leave a lot... More

old hotel, but they were renovating when we stayed. very reasonable price. small clean rooms. a common kitchen and lounge were available for use.free wifi. friendly and very accommodating hosts. very good location. easy to find and close to everything. our one gripe was the bed was a bit shaky and hence the 3 stars for sleep quality. other than... Hotel wooden framed building dating from 1868 (Coromandel Gold Rush) and Thames still has the feel of a Wild West town. Had 2 night stay in twin bedded room at very good rate (low season). Decent sized room in minimalistic decor but none the worse for that - you can live from suitcase (no fitted wardrobes, chairs etc - perhaps... More
