Agree motel units need updating but a very handy location and an onsite restaurant was very handy.

We stayed at The Coachman Motel for 4 nights over Christmas - unit was ok but the decor is in need of updating. Handy location as its close to the town

A slightly better than average motel. Rooms were very clean, quiet, and very happy with the refurb as last time i stayed there is was quite dated. Got a bit of character too with the big window seats. Breakfast was excellent though we did have to ask for spoons and for platters to be refilled - all was done promptly.... More

I was a bit disappointed when this place dropped out of the Rydges portfolio as I always tend to lean towards the well known chains when visiting NZ. There just appears to be a proliferation of small private operators in the country that don’t offer the professionalism, privacy, incentives (rates, bonus points etc) or consistency that the larger players provide.... Very clean rooms and the bed extremely comfortable. Nice touch given freshly ground coffee at check in for the plunger in the room.Great facilities and although the gym small it was adequate. The restaurant food was delicious with lovely staff made for a pleasant evening. Would stay again.

We had our meeting here. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It's a short walk to either the town square or the botanical gardens and river. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They lent me a phone charger because the one I had bought with me wasn't working.
