The Grand Chancellor is located in the CBD, near the park, so excellent for accessing the city. The roomms were large and comfortable but a little rundown. However we were told that the last of the floors (2 and 5) were to be reburbished in 2012. Other floors had already been done. Good restaurant but not cheap. Many other eating... More

The hotel was fairly predictable but the room was extremely spacious, bigger than some of the cabins we stayed in elsewhere. I just was very annoyed about the 10 dollar price for 15 minutes of wifi. This was more expensive than anywhere else in Australia. Other than that it was good value and close to the city centre. More

We were booked in here by a travel agency, and I confess I was filled with trepidation when I read the TripAdvisor reviews. I therefore rang the hotel and volunteered to pay the $30/night upgrade to one of their refurbished King bed rooms: a really smart decision, as it turned out! We were put in a corner room at the... I usually prefer to styay in places that are a little left-of-field but this place seemed to offer really good value. And it was. A very comfortable stay, would recommend. More

This was our first port of call on our 5 day Tasmanian discovery. My wife & I with our 15 year old son stayed one night in early January. Located in the city area it is very close and easy walk to local historical attractions and points of interest. 100 meters to the city gardens and with access through the... More

We had very pleasant stay in this very well appointed and spacious hotel. Very central to the shopping precinct and nearby City Park which has the Macaque Monkey Enclosure. The hotel provides excellent dinning facilities along with spaceous, very well apointed rooms and very comfortable King-sized beds in a quiet location - mind you the nearby church chimes its bell... We stayed for 3 nights in January from the initial contact on the phone, to checking out the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Central location, can recommend room 6001 a large corner room an older style but ticked all our boxes. More

We stayed here for 5 nights in Janu ar y this year. The hotel was very comfortable, clean etc. it was very handy to everything. Staff were friendly and helpful. May be an extra washing machine in the laundry would have been helpful -one was needing repair when we were there. We booked on Wotif and got a good rate.... More

This Hotel was easy to find easy to check into wern't told about the $6.00 parking fee per night. Rooms were roomy and clean. Bed was comfortable and the portable aircon was great as it was quite warm when we were visiting. We ate at the hotel the first night but really aren't into fine dining we were much more... More

Time for some serious updating. The rooms are very tired and the furniture has seen better days. However a good nights sleep was had which is what was required. More
