Being used to modern US Comfort Inns, the Bert Hinkler named after Bundaberg's famous son, turned out to be a basic 60's style one-story roadside motel with a palm lined court yard and pool. The rather large room had a comfortable queen size bed with a good mattress, a single bed, flat screen TV, mini bar, wall A/C, coffee/tea maker, toaster, iron & ironing board, and free broadband and dial-up Internet connections. The bathroom's small vanity offered barely enough room to place a cup with a toothbrush, sink and shower had new fixtures and a new stall shower door, and wall mounted 3-item dispensers next to sink and inside shower stall offered soap, etc.. Parking was under a shade roof in front of the room. The on-site restaurant /bar "The Hangar" provided good fare from an extensive menu. All in all, this Comfort Inn made for a comfortable one night stop in a clean, quiet room, a notch above typical road side motels. more
