Stayed at the Windsor Castle on an overnight stop to the Barrington Tops. I wanted to stay in Maitland itself and did not realise that Maitland East was different from Maitland Town Centre. Both had streets called High St and I thought it was the town centre. Maitland East is a couple kms (I may be wrong about the distance) from the town centre. It is much smaller and less shops.
Their brochure advertises that it is a short walk to the Maitland Goal and Morpeth – it is not.
The Windsor Castle is part of a drinking and dining establishment. The room was well insulated. We could not hear any noises from the diners or drinkers. A good opportunity to enjoy a few drinks and stagger to your room.
There are no lifts to the 1st floor. So if you have big bags, it may be wise to request a ground floor room.
The rooms were spacious with a double bed and a king single for my child. The bathroom/toilet was a bit tiny. There was no where to put your toiletries...
