parts of the city are possibly over-rated. But for accessablity and convenience the hostel was wonderful. more

I have stayed in this hostel a few times - the first one being when it was 'McFees' - and have always been very impressed. The location, of course, is fantastic - Queenstown is not a particularly big place, but the hostel is located right in the heart of the city, within easy walking distance to bus stops, supermarkets, great... more

This was centrally located hostel although it was right opposite Base Queenstown and it was extremely noisy and we weren't even at the front of the hostel. The room was spacious and had a tv. The heater didn't work so they brought us an electric radiator from reception. The kitchen was fantastic with a nice seating area and tv. There... more

The other reviews are right - its all about location here, right in the mixer, but still quiet somehow - maybe as we were at the rear of the hostel. Stayed in a trple room with 2 others, room was nice, not bad rate, en-suite & tv. Kitchens ok, rest of hostel clean & staff ok. Nothing bad to say... more

I stayed at this YHA recently on a skiing holiday and this hostel exceeded my expectations. The hostel was located right in the centre of town only a short stroll from the station where the mountain shuttles depart and not far away from restaurants, cafes and grocery shops. The rooms were more like a hotel room than usual hostel room,... more

Didn't have the most pleasant stay here which in my experience is unusual for a YHA hostel. Let me start first by saying- this hostel is in Queenstown and we stayed there in winter: why do you go there then? For snow and to enjoy yourself. Unfortunately, this place, unlike the rest of Queenstown, hasn't quite grasped that it is... more

We were advised to book ahead in Queenstown as Coronet Peak had just opened for the ski season. This was unnecessary as everywhere had space and some nice looking places were doing deals. The YHA charged us a fixed rate and wouldn't budge and I'm sure we could have stayed somewhere much better for the same price. It took us... more

Being in queenstown we always expected to pay more than in other hostels but sadly you didn't get value for money & this place lets the YHA organisation down. Its recently been taken over by YHA having been a private hostel & hotel in previous lives. Sadly those previous lives are still resident - the room was clean & ok... more

Hello I stayed in Queenstown on 2 separate occasions, 4 days each and a month apart. I suppose I am a little luckier than the average cash-starved backpacker as most of my stay has involved staying with my 6 NZ cousins in Auckland, therefore I have a bit more dosh to pay for accommodation when away from the cuzs. Hence... more
