We choose Hulmes Court and the Victorian room, because on the photos it looked like a nice romantic place and the room charmingly furnished and spacious. In reality it is a rather rundown place and the room dark, damp and therefore smelly, and untidy. The laundry was a mess, and the guest "kitchen" a smelly dirty dent. The "breakfast" turned... More

Stayed here March 2012 (couple from Australia). The Victorian room we stayed in was magnificent - very tall ceiling, old world charm, king size (and comfortable) bed etc. Breakfast was basically toast and cereal self-serve but perfectly fine. Price wise this place was good when we compared it to other like options - particularly this close to the "Octagon" town... More

It's a very old house, it was not very clean, when I arrived, my room should be in the souterrain ("it's a bit shady") and it's more like a backpacker location, with many stairs; some drug addicted people on the street (which I heard later is like that in this part, even there is a school at the opposite side).... The B&B was fine and very well placed in the town center. The owner is a very nice young lady. They have a lot of facilities and try to balance the fact that it is obviously an old house. The wifi connection is available throughout the houses, but in one of those the signal is off and you can't access.

This is not as described in any literature. It is two houses with no 'hosts' as such. The host when we stayed was one student, who was very pleasant but obviously was worked to the limit and had no experience in the hospitality industry. The rooms resembled a 1970s student hostel. Dark red and white walls, a rubber plant (dusty)... More

Stayed just one night. First time we have stayed at a a B & B and if they are all as good as this we will be staying at more in the future. Stayed in an ensuite room which had more than enough room and comfortable bed. House is an old 19th centuary house and is full of charm. Love... More

We coordinated that we would be arriving late (after 8pm) due to bus arrival at 7:55pm. When we arrived and rang the bell, we were expected and welcomed, shown to our room (where the heater was on to make it warm) and told that all was in order. We had selected an inexpensive shared bath accommodation. Our room was comfortable... More

Location - excellent. a 2 minute stroll to the bars and cafes of the Octagon. The two houses that make up Hulmes are old and quirky. They are large houses that have been converted but retain many original features. My room was clean and tidy, but a bit dark. It felt a bit like a room from a storybook haunted... More

The house is a bit tired but I was completely comfortable and at ease. It was good that free Internet and printing was available, free parking and very close to the city, good variety of breakfast items and I loved the cats company. Heating was not a problem and the staff are friendly. I had an awesome view from my... More
