Bealey's Hotel was booked as accommodation as part of our New Zealand tour and we stayed there a total of three nights (2 nights before and one night during). Unfortunately it was also the least pleasant hotels we stayed at. The hallways smelled funny and were unheated and rooms didn't have built in heaters either. We were given two tiny... more

This is a great find at a good price.Its been around a while but has been recently upgraded.Nice garden setting and plenty of parking. About a 10 minute walk to city. Fabulous food and ales in Speights Ale House on premises run by ex All Blacks.Try the great steaks. more

Thankfully, we only stayed at this place for one night on our way back to Wellington from Queensland. We were two couples travelling from the UK, although one of us was a Kiwi and he was totally horrified too. Booked by relatives (who are now horrified!) this was a two night stopover in Christchurch before we went touring. The location is good, easy access from airport by taxi and on bus route into town. The room was outdated and looked shabby and the bathroom was awful. There were problems with no hot water, which wasn't remidied during our stay... more
