As we were planning our trip to New Zealand we wanted to stay in Christchurch a little longer this time to experience the city. So we wanted a place not too far from the centre, but safe in regards to earthquakes and maybe not too far away from the airport. We choose B&Bs when we think we can profit from... More

We had the pleasure of staying two nights with Vivienne and Ruby (her cat) during a recent trip to Christchurch for our daughters Graduation. Vivienne is the perfect host, sharing her home with complete strangers and making us feel like part of the family - nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spacious and private. Each morning we were... More

We stayed only one night but wished we had longer at 40 Thormeycroft St B&B. A quiet, comfortable, private bedroom with perfect, crisp bedlinen and an en suite with top quality bath products and everything you could possibly wish for, provides perfect comfort in an elegant modern spacious house with a private, tranquil courtyard garden where our breakfast was served.... 40 Thornycroft is as close as you'll ever get to having your own house in town - but with the benefit of a charming host to cook a lovely breakfast and tidy your room! We had the Rhodes Room which has its own private bathroom across the landing. Not ideal but didn't detract from our enjoyment of our stay at... More

From the moment we drove in, we were impressed. We are very fussy about cleanliness, this place is spotless and Viv applies attention to detail. Viv was warm and friendly on our arrival, welcomed our children, gave us hints of where to go and how to get there. Spoilt us with scrumptous food, sent us to a great restaurant within... More

I really enjoyed my stay at 40 Thornycroft B and B. I travel a lot for work and this is by far the nicest and most comfortable place I have stayed. I have now stayed several times for both work and leisure and I always look forward to returning. The beds are extremely comfortable with lovely linen and everything is... More

A very quiet and full of art Bed and Breakfast is waiting for you to come in the very outskirt of the central Christchurch. Surrounded by lots of parks and bushes, you definatelly find yourself totally relaxed and breathe deeply than usual. Sky in the sunrise and sunset really attracts you and cannot express in one word. Vivienne, the owner... More

An excellent B & B with a wonderful host, set in a peaceful location whilst being handy to a number of facilities. The accommodation was very clean and spacious and the bed afforded a very comfortable rest . We would stay at 40 Thornycroft Street again and can recommend it to couples.
