I stayed for two nights and wish I'd stayed longer. Beautiful setting made even more special by the luxury and comfort of Stonehaven Homestay. Paulette and John make it feel like your own home, which can never compete of course with the beautiful decor and lovely little touches like the complimentary port in your room! John works tirelessly in the... More

John met us, myself, a visitor from the UK and my daughter, a resident of NZ, at Blenheim airport and soon we were at Stonehaven. A beautiful, peaceful spot centrally located for some excellent wineries. We were encouraged to feel at home from the very first moment. Tea and freshly baked shortbread, a swim in the gorgeous pool followed and... More

I've been the guest of Paulette and John a couple of times now. First time, I've chosen this place, because it's in central to several wineries, which are all in easy walking distance, like Alan Scott, Cloudy Bay, Hunters, Herzog... The place is simply stunning, John knows the wineries and their wines inside out and Paulette's breakfast is simply delicious.... More

I just can't say enough good things about this place. We stayed at Stonehaven for 2 nights during our New Zealand travels and we wish we had stayed here longer. From the moment we walked in, we felt so welcome by John and Paulette. The first evening they made reservations for us after letting us look through their book of... More

We came all the way from Sweden and found this heaven hosted by John & Paulette. They took care of us by all means, served excellent meals with superb wines, lended us bicycles to visit all the nearby wineyards, we tried at least eight before we lost count! The homestay and the surrounding garden is like a postcard, go there.... More

No wonder Stonehaven is ranked No 1 here, though we didn't know it when we were there. It was one of our 3 favourite B&Bs out of the 10 that we stayed at in 3 weeks in South Island. Certainly it had the best chef! Paulette cooked us an absolutely awesome dinner - the tenderest venison we've ever had, green-shell... More

The worst part of our stay at Stonehave was that it was for only one night. We booked Stonehaven as a stopover from arriving early evening at Picton and before travelling down to Hanmer Springs the next morning. This homestay and the region demand a longer stay a minimum of two or three nights. Our ferry was late but as... More
