We stayed mid-winter for three nights as a base for skiing nearby Cardrona, and we were very very happy. There is no hustle and bustle, no shops, just a comfortable bar and a great chef. We cannot comment on the rooms here as we didn't stay, but it would have been good to try them out. We stayed down the road and found ourselves returning again and again rather than going into town. We spontaneously decided to stay at the Cardrona hotel on our way to Wanaka and had a great time. The room was very comfortable and the restaurant was cozy with great food.
