The owners were extremely nice and helpful and we managed to have a reservation here all tough we stayed at Moana Lodge during the Wellington rugby 7's. The place was really nice and clean and quiet. The train station is close (only 15-20 min walk away) and if you want a glass (or two) of wine at night there is... More

A group of friends (2 guys, 4 girls) stayed at the Moana Lodge and it was our favorite accommodation in the two weeks in New Zealand. The house sits right on a residential street, right on the beach. Our room had giant bay windows and we fell asleep to the waves crashing. The common kitchen area was clean as were... More

We stayed in a double room at the front with a sea view and it was amazing. Like most other guests we were booked to stay only two nights but ended up staying more. The place is immaculate, the living room is really comfy. (grab a book and curl up on the sofa and watch the sun set!) The kitchen... More

Hosts Helen and John and their resident helpers were most friendly and welcoming after we arrived late in the evening unannounced. The corner Queen room upstairs was spectacular, and the amenities were exceptional, very clean, and well maintained. Got invited to a most memorable in-house dinner by Helen whilst watching the Rugby semis. Helen was extremely helpful, dropping us off... More

Moana Lodge is a pleasant, clean, comfortable and spacious home away from home. Located across the road from the sea with great views to the south island, the rooms are clean and incredibly well priced. The staff are friendly, and the hosts Helen and John clearly enjoy the interaction with their guests and are a wealth of information about things... More

We stayed at Moana Lodge for 6 nights during the World Cup. Rooms were very spacious and toilets and bathrooms scrupiously clean. Loved talking to Helen and John who were extremely helpful and just down to earth great people. We are in our 40's from South Africa and the lodge had people of all ages who interacted like old friends... More

We really enjoyed our chats and so pleased you had a great trip to NZ. Last night was certainly a nail biter though. Its a shame the RWC has to end! More

We stayed for one night at Moana Lodge as, despite booking 9 months in advance, all other Wellington accommodation during World Cup season was chocka block. We arrived in the evening when it was really dark so couldn't find it (look for Cluny Road). Upon arrival, guests are asked to remove shoes which really made us feel like we were... More

Hi Katja, Thank you for taking the trouble to write your thoughts. We were all but fully booked 12 months in advance of the RWC. Had we received your booking earlier we could well have given you one of our beautiful, spacious, seafront rooms but of course they were all pre-booked. Sadly you arrived late and had difficulty finding us... More

Just had 3 nights at the Moana Lodge for the Rugby World Cup games in Wellington. What a find (thanks to my brother)! Lovely restored house with quality accommodation and prices to suit. Beautiful location right on the waterfront with easy access to trains into the city. The owners were delightful - so friendly, accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. A real... More

I have discussed the heading of this review with the guest who wrote it as it could be misleading. We offer self catering guest-house style accommodation for travellers of all ages from all over the world but we are not a B&B. He kindly wrote his comments as if we were. More

We stayed here for three nights in July. This was the best hostel we found during our five week stay in NZ. The hostel, was warm, comfortable and exceptionally clean. Service from the owners was fantastic, they took us to the local supermarket, and after we left they posted a charger we had forgotten onto our next hostel for us.... More

I've been watching a place around Wellington, because i've heard all the hostels in wellington are very much crap. So i've booked on night in the Moana Lodge, but the next day i've extended for as much as 7 days, because it's such a nice place! I'd like to spend the rest of my life there! Just sitting in the...
