Wendy the manager is charming and very helpful. Had a wonderful chat easy to talk too. Unit 2 - bed a bit hard, room clean neat and simple (probably a bit dated if anything sort of early 70's). What a wondeful gem we found on trip advisor - Denis and Wendy were fantastic hosts and very helpful with suggestions of where to visit. We had 2 nights in Taupo just before Christmas. The staff and owners and very friendly and do go out of their way to be helpful. That was by far the biggest positive. The rooms are clean but smallish given all the stuff that they try to fit in – cooking plate, small fridge, crockery (all squished under the sink along with the fly spray), small table with chairs... more

There may be hotels closer to the water (read traffic and crowds) or some with newer amenities (read more expensive) but for my money, staying with Wendy and Dennis is like staying with family, only in this family, the guests are treated to the master suite.
