We read the questionable reviews for this place after booking. However as we were already locked in we decided to go ahead and stay at Falls Chateau anyway. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Falls Chateau. The owner was onsite when we arrived. The decor was gorgeous. We had a small apartment with a magnificent view of Lake Taupo. The house itself is a short distance from the actual township, but this was reflected in the very reasonable tariff we paid at peak holiday time.... More

Having stayed at Falls Chateau previously we knew how to find it and we were also sent, via txt, travelling directions by the owner - so much better to the previous experience of trying to find the house in the dark of winter with no signage about. Apartments are very comfortable and clean. Very nice decor, bathroom suites etc. Not a very welcoming arrival and bit of a strange set up. No office/reception desk at apartments. Arrived and house was locked and in darkness. Owner has alarm which goes off in his house to notifiy of people arriving at house, who arrived a few minutes after arrival.... More
