My husband and I decided to stay at A-Kahu for two nights in early March based on the glowing recommendation in Frommer's. We were not disappointed. The house is situated in a lovely residential neighborhood less than ten minutes from the center of town by car. The view over Lake Rotorua is spectacular. We were welcomed on arrival by Bettye,... I must say the rooms are lovely and comfortable, have a great view and the house is in a convenient location. Nigel was off on a fishing trip with his sons so he stayed for only a few minutes one morning. He is the friendly one as is his mother, Bettye. As for Kiri, she is severe looking, efficient and... My wife and I stayed here for one night in January 2012 and this was a grave error - we should have stayed for longer! Keri and Nigel are great hosts and made us very welcome, giving plenty of advice that made our stay in Rotorua extra enjoyable. The room was fabulous, very spacious, stylishly decorated with plenty of local... More

Keri and Nigel were the kindest, friendliest hosts. Nothing was too much trouble despite my grumpiness on arrival. A beautiful property. Highly recommended. Thank you. Jackie. More

This B & B is in a residential area of Rotorua five minutes drive from downtown. There are four large guest rooms with beautiful views of Lake Rotorua and the town. The hosts, Nigel and Kiri, were very friendly and helpful in providing us with information on things to do and see in Rotorua and surround. Nigel's mom, Bettye, was... More

Nice sized room with a fabulous view across the lake. There was a wardrobe but there were so many authentic art and crafts on the shelves that there was little room to put our unpacked items. The separately located kitchette was very welcome and the help yourself drinks were handy. The home baking and excellent breakfast were very sociable with... More

We are a group of four adults spending five weeks in NZ. A-Kahu definitely ranked as one of the best stays - Nigel and Keri are fantastic hosts - really made us feel at home and Keri is the best cook. We had a lovely room overlooking the lake and had constant access to the kayaks and all lake amenities.... More

I recently stayed here with my partner and cannot rate A-Kahu Lodge highly enough. The location is stunning and overlooks Rotorua's beautiful lake, the house itself is gorgeous and you instantly feel very at home at the Lodge. Breakfast was to die for, and the hosts were truly amazing people. I highly recommend a stay at the Lodge. More

On the surface I think A-Kahu is glossy and stylish but scratch the surface and it is let down a little by small imperfections. The rooms are large and spacious and decorated very stylishly. But there is only 1 small closet to hang clothes. If you're only staying a night or two it won't matter too much. We had adjoining... More

Beautifully decorated room with lovely views of the lake. Very friendly & welcoming hosts who were happy to share a drink (or three!) and have a chat. They provided no end of helpful advice on what to see & do in Rotorua and beyond. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and my wife is now addicted to fejoa juice (thanks Nigel!).... More
