Whilst travelling in New Zealand for 1 month we booked this hostel because the city accommodation was fully booked - it was the worst experience of the trip. When we arrived we were told these were the last 2 beds. You could not access the beds at all due to baggage in the way from other guests that had been... More

Me and my friend almost checked out again after just checking in. I'm not sure what the smell was and where it cam from but it wasn't pleasent. Luckily the the next day it was almost gone. twin room was basic and sheets clean, carpet not though. We've chosen it for location and cheap price but wouldn't choose it again.... More

Horrible hostel. Just came back from a 5 day stay in Auckland at this place - chosen because of its location and cheap price. I know when choosing something cheap you're not expecting luxury, but then you're not expecting to feel like you're squatting either. Shared a twin room here, which was as basic as you could get - beds... More

The worst hostel we stayed at on our whole 3 month trip. I was travelling with one other friend, and they put us in two seperate rooms on entirely different floors, another traveller arrived in the middle of the night and they shifted things around so that two people shared the bed bellow me so they could squeeze the new... The room has very bad air ventilation, only a small window. Beside a main road, very noisy in the night. Kitchen is so dirty that you really dont wanna cook in it. Parking is expensive near the area. Location is good if you deem staying near queen street and sky tower is good, or if u dont have a car.... More

Very basic hostel. The beds weren't that comfy and creaked and squeaked every time you moved. There were no sheets so I couldn't be sure how clean the duvets were as most places don't change them between guests. The computers had no headphones or microphone so you couldn't use skype even though it was installed! The internet was slow too.... More

This palace is the best one I ever stay in NZ. The staff are most welcoming , friendly and informative. 24 hours reception is good for safety. The location is just across from Skytower. You can walk in at night with no problem. and this hostel is very clean. Its very comfortable place to stay. I will recommend to everyone. More

For New Zealand standards, this is a poor hostel. Thin mattresses and rooms that are too warm. Kitchen is way too small and it is not a good place to meet people. It's not horrible, but I would not recommend this. More

I think this place must've changed since the first reviews were written. I found the staff very helpful, nice, and fun. The other people staying at the hostel were lovely, nice, and respectful in terms of space, cleanliness, and noise levels. I had a very comfortable time there. More
